Aims and Scope

Pakistan Review of Social Sciences (PRSS) is a peer reviewed, online, open access journal dedicated to advancing high-quality scholarship across the social sciences. The journal provides a platform for both established and emerging scholars to publish original, rigorously researched work that enhances theoretical understanding, informs policy, and engages with pressing social issues at local, regional, and global levels.

PRSS welcomes contributions that draw on a broad range of methodological traditions, including quantitative, qualitative, mixed methods, comparative, historical, and interdisciplinary approaches. The journal is especially interested in work that connects theory with practice, centers lived experience, and reflects critically on social change, development, and inequality in Pakistan, South Asia, the Global South, and the wider world.

The journal publishes:

  • Full-length research articles

  • Thesis- or dissertation-based articles adapted into publishable papers

  • Academic essays and critical reflections

  • Review articles and book reviews of significant works in the social sciences

PRSS covers all social science disciplines. Core areas include, but are not limited to:

  • Anthropology

  • Development Studies

  • Economics

  • Gender Studies

  • International Relations

  • Political Science

  • Psychology

  • Sociology

Interdisciplinary submissions that cut across these fields, or that bridge social sciences with humanities, law, public health, environment, technology, and media, are strongly encouraged.

As part of the Pakistan Review Research and Publications network, PRSS operates within a broader ecosystem of open access journals and research services. Pakistan Review Research and Publications is an initiative of Technology Research and Innovation Markaz (TRIM), Pakistan, an independent entity providing research and publishing services to academic and corporate sectors. PRSS and all Pakistan Review journals are managed through a transparent peer review process and maintain full editorial independence. The journal is not associated with, nor does it represent, any governmental or non-governmental organization, or any public or private university.

Through its open access model and inclusive editorial policy, PRSS aims to:

  • Promote socially relevant and context-sensitive research

  • Amplify voices from underrepresented regions and institutions

  • Encourage critical, innovative, and policy-relevant scholarship

  • Support capacity building among early-career researchers and graduate students

In doing so, PRSS seeks to serve as a scholarly bridge between Pakistan and the international academic community, contributing to a richer, more diverse global conversation in the social sciences.
