Film ‘Maalik’ is as much about the military as it is about politics in Pakistan

From its initial trailers, Ashir Azeem’s Maalik may appear to be steeped in the convoluted world of political intrigue. But the film won’t skimp on the action.

This was revealed by the film’s lead cast member, Farhan Ali Agha, who plays a Major (and later a Colonel) of the Army Special Forces in the film.

Farhan shared behind-the-scenes photos of actors in army gear, which reveals the film’s military angle.

Ashir Azeem of Dhuwan fame has penned a script that brings together politics and the military, and plants a family drama in their midst.

“The concept of Maalik [is] owning [our] country as citizens, realising [that] there’s so much more going on than just safeguarding territory in the form of economic or political corruption. Ashir has written it well,” Farhan shared about the film.

The film is planned for a 2016 release.
