Ashes battle: Tendulkar’s son joins England at Lord’s

When England came out to practice during a net-training session at Lord’s, they were joined in by Tendulkar – not Sachin, but his 15-year-old son Arjun.

Arjun Tendulkar is a left-arm seamer and a regular participant at Lord’s indoor school, as the Tendulkar’s residence isn’t quite far from the historic ground.

According to cricinfo.com, it was Neil Burns – a former county keeper and a close friend of the Tendulkar’s – who requested English assistant coach if the boy could watch and participate in the team England’s training ahead of their 2nd Ashes Test against Australia.

Arjun also had the privilege of facing Yuvraj Singh in the nets in 2011 when India were preparing to take on Australia for a Test match.

Pakistan bowling great Wasim Akram had also given Arjun some handy tips during this year’s IPL. “He is as enthusiastic as any 15-year-old would be passionate about cricket in India and Pakistan,” Wasim was quoted as saying by NDTV.

“I gave him some general tips about fitness and wrist position. I told him how to bring the ball back into the right-hander. I told him to practice it for three months and then I promised him to teach how to take the ball away from right-handers.”
